About

Sea of Dreams is an immersive landscape built from steel, fire, wood, light, and sound. A flotilla of origami boats sails across playa converging on a glowing island surrounded by nine fiery Elders, steel origami cranes. Each Elder sits atop an egg-shaped mirror held by vines and roots. The Elders guard a flaming blossom of wisdom for all to gather around. Travelers must confront and release their illusions revealed by the Elders’ mirrors before passing through to the sacred blossom and the other fiery flaming plants of the island.

Steel rendered in contrasting geometric angles and organic curves combine with fire, wood, light, and sound to manifest this welcoming yet mysterious sculptural environment.

Effects

Sea of Dreams features a wide range of fire effects. Each Elder has two 2-way poofers activated by participant interactivity. The sculpture also features 6 propane fire ceilings, a wood-fire pit, and two liquid fuel shooters sending 50 ft colored flames into the sky.

LED components add additional light to the scene and a nautical soundscape adds to the mystical vibe of the sculpture.

Specs

Size: Sea of Dreams footprint is a 100 ft diameter circle and reaches up to 12 ft high.
