About

Haven is an immersive fire sculpture. A giant nest is populated by huge, wondrous birds of varying sizes, along with a clutch of mysterious eggs. The birds feature fire effects, movement, and interaction. The nest offers non-fire illumination, seating, and plenty to explore within.

Effects

Haven is a nest made by a giant bird with access to a welder and a scrap yard. Its curvilinear forms are composed of steel tubes, and salvaged materials like sheet metal, chainlink, and windows. Its substructure integrates a chaotic mix of colors and textures, with glowing lights inviting exploration.

Above, large birds perch, smaller ones flutter, and tiny birds gather. The larger ones are made of welded steel, while the smallest ones are laser-cut wood. Some contain fire smoldering in their wings, poofing from beaks, and flames swirling within. Others communicate through light and movement. The nest features benches and odd items, forming a number of small habitats within the larger nest.

Inside the nest, an immersive soundscape blends natural and industrial tones. At its heart, eggs rest on sandy beds, flickering with flames. Occasionally, they tremble and crack, releasing their magic as towers of colorful fire.
