Month Summary Tasks
Jan/Feb 2005 Proposal Cycle Complete proposal and budget for Burning Man.
March Design Cycle Design all head, body and wings parts. Design fuel & electricity lines layout. Make jigs for wing parts, ground plates. Finalize material specs and machine/shop needs for all parts. Plan wood retrieval ventures.
April Purchasing Cycle Purchase materials, tools, shop and storage rental fees. Locate fire effect equipment, fire extinguishers. Locate wood supply or make retrieval trips to coast. Reserve flatbed truck, small generator, other on-site equipment.
May Creation Cycle 1 Plan out wooden body, burn platforms. Cut all feather and head shapes and begin fabrication. Begin wiring, fuel line layout and connection. Order fuel. Work long nights.
June Creation Cycle 2 Build head, body, and wing parts. Install fire effects, fuel lines, electrical. Test burn of effects and fire cauldron in head. Work longer nights.
July Finishing Cycle Finalize all feathers & ground plates/feet for each. Finish body, section joints. Refill and test all fire extinguishers. Fire safety training. Installation plan finalized. Get excited. Assemble equipment & supplies for the desert. Formalize Emergency Plan of Action and assemble Material Safety Data sheets.
August Testing Cycle Assemble equipment & supplies for the desert. Formalize Emergency Plan of Action and assemble Material Safety Data sheets.

Week of Burning Man 2005 Schedule

Day Tasks
August 26 (Fri) Arrive at Burning Man
Aug. 27 (Sat) Survey site, locate center, lay out markers for all parts, place fuel supply, operator stations.
Aug. 28 (Sun) Install ground plates, fuel & electrical grids, install fuel lines and fire effect parts in sculpture. Install head and body.
Aug. 29 (Mon) Install wing feathers, finalize all plumbing & electrical. Get safety equipment in place. Test all fire effects.
Performance Safety Team technical walkthrough, fire inspection.
Aug. 30 (Tues) First wood fire and full night show of basic wing fire effects, 9pm-midnight.
Aug. 31 (Wed) Full show, all fire effects and head fire.
Sept. 1 (Thurs) Full show, all fire effects and head fire.
Sept. 2 (Fri) Full show, all fire effects and head fire.
Sept. 3 (Sat) Full show, ending with the ritual burning of the wood body.
Sept. 4 (Sun) Leave No Raves, de-install
Sept. 5-6 (Mon Tues) Leave No Trace, clean up, pack truck, check out at Artery(!), hit the road
